Module 12 Photo Assignment


Module Twelve: Photography Assignments

Please complete the following exercises. Submit the work as a file attachment. The Photography Assignment exercise is worth 15 points.
  1. Create your own model release form that you could have individuals sign when they are recognizable in a photograph. Some examples can be found at the following sites:
  2. Take one photograph in a public space and take another photograph in a private space (be sure to obtain permission).

  1. Find a location to photograph. Submit three photographs: one that is for personal use, one that could be used for editorial purposes, and one that would be acceptable for commercial use.

  1. Use the model release form you created and obtain permission from three different individuals to take their photographs. Submit three photographs with these individuals present in the photograph in a recognizable way. Include copies of the three signed releases.






  1. Minors (those under the age of consent) require that a parent or guardian sign their model release. Create a model release specifically for minors and obtain permission to photograph one minor. Submit a photograph of the minor with the signed release form. An example of a minor release form can be found here:

Module Eighteen: Photography Assignments
Please complete the following exercises. Submit the work as a file attachment. The Photography Assignment exercise is worth 15 points.
  • Practice using traditional wedding photography poses. This can include one person, a "bridal" couple, or groups. Submit three photographs using traditional poses.





  • Practice using wedding photojournalism techniques (you may want to have your helpers act out common wedding behaviors such as getting ready or participating in the ceremony). Submit three photographs of wedding photojournalism type shots.

  • Practice taking a portrait photograph of one member of the "bridal" party. Submit three photographs of a "bridal" portrait.



  • Practice taking photographs of the "bridal" couple. These photographs can use either type of wedding photography or a combination of the two. Submit three photographs of the couple.



  • Practice taking photographs of groups of three or more people to mimic the photographs that you might take of the bridal party or families. These photographs can use either type of wedding photography or a combination of the two. Submit three photographs of a group that might be present at the wedding.



Module 16 Photo Assignment


Module Sixteen: Photography Assignments

Please complete the following exercises. Submit the work as a file attachment. The Photography Assignment exercise is worth 15 points.
  • Practice taking fine art photographs. Submit three photographs that you feel meet the guidelines for fine art photographs.



  • Choose a particular concept (such as happiness, sadness, a promotion, a holiday, etc.). Practice taking photographs that illustrate the concept. Submit three stock photographs that you feel meet the guidelines for stock photographs.

  • Choose a particular product. Practice taking product photographs using the guidelines discussed in the module. Submit one product photograph.

  • Stock photographs with people in them are often desired. Practice taking stock photographs with people in them. Remember to have a particular concept in mind and to obtain a model release for the photograph.

  • Choose one of your photographs to display. Using some of the guidelines in the lesson, prepare the photograph for presentation. When you are finished, take a photograph of the display/presentation and submit the photograph of the displayed work.

Module 17 Photo Assignment


Module Seventeen: Photography Assignments

Please complete the following exercises. Submit the work as a file attachment. The Photography Assignment exercise is worth 15 points.
  • Choose a location with something going on (your family dinner, a sporting event, etc.) and document the "event." Submit ten photographs of the "event" that combine to tell the story of the "event."

  • Practice capturing candid shots. Submit three photographs where you feel you’ve done a good job of capturing the moment.



  • Photojournalism often involves photographing action. Practice photographing people or objects that are moving. Submit three photographs that contain something in movement.



  • Choose one location. Practice taking overall, medium range, and close-up shots of the location. Submit two photographs for each type of shot.









  • Photojournalism often involves telling a story with a photograph. Practice making each photograph you take contain a story within it. Think about what information the viewer needs to understand what is going on in the photograph. Submit three photographs that you feel tell a story
